EMI Shielding
DemonstratedConductive carbon skins attenuate electromagnetic interference at a fraction of the mass of metal shielding.
How it works
Because the carbon is intrinsically conductive, shielding can be designed into a structural skin rather than bolted on as a separate metal layer. Attenuation is a function of layup, areal conductivity, frequency band, and joint design.
What Darwin enables
Broadband attenuation from a thin, low-mass conductive layer that can also carry structural or thermal function.
Integration approaches
- Conductive plies or surface veils in a structural laminate
- Enclosure walls and conformal shields on complex geometry
- Two-layer builds where higher attenuation is required
